What associates degree do I need to become a pharmacist?

Question by collegeboy09: What associates degree do I need to become a pharmacist?
I have looked into many natural science fields, and while marine biology and zoology interest me they don’t get paid much without 6-10 years of school, and even then pay is mediocre at best. I have enrolled in community college and plan to move to university after obtaining my associates.

What kind of credits/degree should I go for at my community college? (Besides alot of chemistry I know that). All credits are transferable, but I have failed to fine a pe-pharm program that they offer.

  1. That’s because CC do not offer a pre-pharm program (too specific). They generally offer the basics; so its just a general chem major.

  2. You won’t likely find a pre-pharmacy program at a two year institution. Just take a general science AS degree option, make sure you have gen chem I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, and Biology I and II completed before you transfer. Keep your GPA as high as possible though, pharmacy programs are very competitive.

  3. You have to get a BS degree in a science field (like biology, microbiology, chemistry) and then apply to a pharmacy college.
